Common Issues

❓ Image won't upload

If you're unable to upload an image, check the following:

File size must be under 100MB
Supported formats: PNG, JPG, WebP
Try refreshing the page and uploading again
Clear your browser cache if having persistent issues
Try a different browser if the problem continues

✓ Solution

Compress your image before uploading or split large images into smaller sections. Most images under 20MB work without issues.

❓ Upscaled image looks blurry

Blur can occur for several reasons:

Original image is very low resolution
Upscaling factor is too high (8x on very small images)
Sharpness slider set too low
Image has significant compression artifacts

✓ Solution

Increase the Sharpness and Clarity sliders. Start with Sharpness at 20-30 and Clarity at 15-25. Use lower upscale factors (2x-4x) for better quality. Experiment gradually with settings.

❓ Processing takes too long

Slow processing can happen with:

Very large images (over 4000x4000 pixels)
High upscale factors (8x) with large images
Older devices or browsers
Multiple heavy filters enabled simultaneously

✓ Solution

Try upscaling smaller images first or use lower upscale factors (2x or 4x). Close other browser tabs and applications to free up memory. On older devices, use moderate settings.

❓ Image quality looks worse than original

This can happen if:

Too much denoise applied (removes detail)
Sharpness set too high (creates halos)
Upscaling very low-resolution images
Original image is highly compressed

✓ Solution

Start with default slider settings and adjust gradually. Use Denoise only if your image is noisy. Keep Sharpness moderate (10-30). For best results, start with good quality source images.

❓ Browser crashes or freezes

This may happen when:

Processing extremely large images
Browser runs out of memory
Device is low on RAM
Using older browser versions

✓ Solution

Try upscaling smaller images. Close other applications to free up memory. Update your browser to the latest version. Try a different browser like Chrome, Firefox, or Safari.

❓ Download button doesn't work

Download issues can occur due to:

Browser popup blocker is enabled
Browser download settings are restricted
Insufficient storage space on device
Temporary browser glitch

✓ Solution

Check your browser's download settings. Whitelist Free Image Scaler in your popup blocker. Ensure your device has space. Try a different export format (PNG, JPG, WebP). Refresh the page and try again.

❓ Settings not saving

Slider values should reset after each image. This is normal behavior:

Sliders reset to default (0) after uploading a new image
Settings are not persisted between sessions
This is by design for fresh processing each time

✓ Solution

Simply re-adjust your preferred slider settings for each image. Write down your favorite settings if you process images frequently with the same adjustments.

❓ My upscaled image doesn't look like true "AI" 4K quality
